Emily is the creative force behind A & Em. She’s the one who makes things look right, feel right, and connect with the people they’re meant to reach. Her background in design and her instinct for aesthetics shape everything from website builds to ad creative to the way the agency itself presents to the world.
Like Andrew, Emily has worked at nearly every level of the industry — from account manager and SEO specialist to running paid ad campaigns and serving as a director of advertising. She understands the full picture of how marketing works, not just the creative side. She doesn’t just make things look good. She makes things work.
Her passion for pottery and visual art isn't a hobby that sits separate from her work. It's the same eye, the same attention to craft, applied to different materials.
Andrew is the numbers guy. If there’s data to be analyzed, a trend to be spotted, or a strategy to pressure-test, he’s already three steps ahead. He’s a pragmatist to his core — which means he’ll tell you what you need to hear, not what sounds good in a sales meeting. Sometimes that bluntness catches people off guard. Most of the time they end up grateful for it.
He’s spent time in nearly every seat a marketing agency has to offer: account manager, SEO technician, director, vice president. That breadth means he understands how agencies work from the inside, what they get wrong, and what it actually takes to drive results rather than just report on them.
He and Emily know what it takes to grow a business because they are business owners. That perspective changes how you think about a client's budget.
There’s no hiding behind a brand name when your name is the brand. Every client we take on, every strategy we build, every result we report on — that’s us. Our reputation, our work, our names on it.
We built A & Em because we believed that business owners deserve a marketing partner who actually picks up the phone, tells the truth, and cares about the outcome as much as they do. We still believe that. It’s why we stay small enough to mean it.
We also know what it feels like to be on the other side of the table. When a client trusts us with their marketing budget, we treat it the way we'd want someone to treat ours.
We run our own ads. We invest in our own SEO. We put our money where our mouth is — literally.
With clients about what's working and what isn't. With ourselves about what we're good at and where our limits are. We'd rather lose a client by being honest than keep one by hiding the truth.
Not from layers of account managers and handoffs, but from the people doing the work staying close to the people it's for. That's why Emily and Andrew are on every account, every call, every decision.
No black boxes, no vanity metrics, no confusing dashboards designed to obscure more than they reveal. If something isn't working, we'll tell you before you have to ask.
Every strategist, every writer, every person working on your account is local, accountable, and reachable. We believe the quality of the work and the integrity of the relationship depend on it.
Alberta is the husky. If you want to know how that name came about, ask Andrew — it’s a better story in person.
Walter is the cat. He has strong opinions about everything and apologizes for none of them. The only one in the house with stronger opinions is Andrew, and that’s saying something.
